Feature: Email notification of new/changed content

on Tue, 12/21/2010 - 23:06

We talked via email about the need for notification. The essence of the feature is described by George in a Protonote (attached to this page):

We need a checkbox/link on every page so users would get an email when the content changes. Top priority. Then change the instruction on the Help page accordingly.

Here is the summary of our email correspondence about this feature:

Gabor: And/or do you want a checkbox/link on every page so users would get an email when the content changes?

George: only on nodes (blogs, book pages, and forums), no link would be needed at the bottom of each comment  when installed, the explanation needs to be included on the Help page

Gabor: There is no module installed that could do this. Possible candidate modules are "Subscriptions" and "Notifications". (Note: Comparison of these modules)

I wanted to open a new ticket at DrupalGardens' Forum asking about this feature. Turns out I cannot post in that forum, because I am not a site owner.

However I found that somebody asked for  this feature already. See here.

The answer from December 13 was:

It's something we'd like to offer, but I don't have an estimated time of arrival.

I've added your request to our project for this - tracking internally as #AN-19927.

Therefore, I have no way of implementing this feature until this is solved or the site moves. I will check back at that topic regularly to see whether there is any news to report.

have outlined this in Help pages here: http://www.commonslearningalliance.org/content/help-support#uptodate

also users are opted in to be notified of comments  on any content/comment they have created -as done here - http://www.commonslearningalliance.org/content/help-support#uptodate=&overlay=admin/config/people/comment_notify
